En effet. :-)

Forbes a écrit :

The move surprised analysts, including Tudor, Pickering, Holt, which said in a note that the deal translates into a $1 billion to $1.5 billion development fee for the Houston infrastructure giant after deducting what it spent on the expansion project and the valuation for the existing pipeline.

Forbes a écrit :

Jefferies analyst Christopher Sighinolfi said in a perfect world, under a "fair and transparent" regulatory process, Kinder Morgan would have developed the project. "We believe management’s ability to detangle itself from the political morass at a price that recoups invested costs, obtains a market multiple for its existing assets and secures C$650 million to C$700 million for its trouble marks a very fair outcome," he said.

The Thesis

Kinder Morgan’s transaction with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government not only removes the ongoing overhang of uncertainty in Canada but improves its balance sheet and leverage, Blum said in the upgrade note.

Proceeds from the sale will help the company achieve a 4.5x leverage by the end of 2018 and should remain unchanged throughout 2019 as part of Kinder Morgan’s commitment to reducing leverage over the longer-term, the analyst said

Wells Fargo added the pipeline company to its list of attractive "midstream reformers," which is reserved for companies that have taken the necessary steps to address the following, Blum said:

- The elimination of GP/IDR structure to improve corporate governments.
- Self-funding for equity.
- Capital discipline with a focus on return on investments.
- Solid distribution coverage.
- A path to boasting a conservative balance sheet.

Kinder Morgan could announce new organic projects that would make its growth story more visible, including a potential second Permian-to-Gulf Coast gas pipeline or a potential sale of its Kinder Morgan carbon dioxide business, which is the largest transporter of carbon dioxide in North America.

Kinder Morgan (KMI +2.2%) moves higher after Bernstein upgrades shares to Outperform from Market Perform with a $22 price target, up from $21, saying KMI’s sale of the Trans Mountain pipeline to the Canadian government may "finally be the start of something good" for the company.

The sale will move KMI to 4.7x debt to EBITDA from 5.1x previously and remove a lot of uncertainty and capex, Bernstein’s Jean Ann Salisbury says, hoping the company now will sell its enhanced oil recovery business for a good price to further reduce its leverage and sell other non-core assets.

With all that done, Salisbury tells KMI it can "declare yourself the safe, defensive, 80% take or pay equivalent, 4.5x midstream company - what MLPs are supposed to be!"

Source : https://seekingalpha.com/news/3366348-k … thing-good

Kinder Morgan a écrit :

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline LLC (KMTP), a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE: KMI), EagleClaw Midstream Ventures, LLC (EagleClaw), a portfolio company of Blackstone Energy Partners, and Apache Corporation (NYSE, NASDAQ: APA) today announced they have signed a letter of intent for the development of the proposed Permian Highway Pipeline Project (PHP Project), which will provide an outlet for increased natural gas production from the Permian Basin to growing market areas along the Texas Gulf Coast. The approximately $2 billion PHP Project is designed to transport up to 2.0 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas through approximately 430 miles of 42-inch pipeline from the Waha, Texas, area to the U.S. Gulf Coast and Mexico markets. Given the level of producer inquiry, KMI is also evaluating the economic and hydraulic feasibility of a 48-inch pipeline with increased transportation capacity. The PHP Project is expected to be in service in late 2020, subject to the execution of definitive agreements and the receipt of construction permits.

SeekingAlpha a écrit :

Kinder Morgan (NYSE:KMI) +0.2% after-hours following mixed Q2 results, with a $180M net loss available to stockholders due to $749M in non-cash impairments taken during the quarter, mostly related to its pipeline and gathering facilities in Oklahoma.

Even so, KMI says it achieved distributable cash flow of $0.50/share in Q2, 9% better than the year-ago quarter, resulting in nearly $700M of excess DCF above its dividend.

KMI ended the quarter with a net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio of 4.9x and expect to end the year below its 2018 budgeted leverage metric of ~5.1x, excluding any impact from the use of Trans Mountain sale net proceeds.

For 2018, KMI’s budget contemplates declared dividends of $0.80/share, DCF of $4.57B ($2.05/share) and adjusted EBITDA of $7.5B, targets the company currently expects to meet or beat.

KMI forecasts investing $2.4B in growth projects during 2018, up $200M from the budget, to be funded with internally generated cash flow without the need to access capital markets.

Source : Kinder Morgan considering full exit from Canada after Trans Mountain sale

Kinder Morgan is his top pick, which he also added to the firm’s Conviction Buy list.

SeekingAlpha a écrit :

Kinder Morgan (NYSE:KMI) -0.4% after-hours as it reports roughly in-line Q3 earnings and revenues, with distributable cash flow of ~$$1.1B ($0.49/share), up 4% Y/Y.

KMI says the DCF increase was due to greater contributions across nearly all business segments, driven primarily by natural gas pipelines and CO2 units, partially offset by a reduction in Kinder Morgan Canada earnings resulting from the Trans Mountain sale as well as higher sustaining capex.

Q3 net income of $693M more than doubled from 334M in the year-ago quarter, benefiting from a one-time gain on the Trans Mountain sale; KMI’s project backlog at the end of Q3 was $6.5B, $250M above Q2, including additions of nearly $800M in new projects, primarily in natural gas pipelines.

KMI says it expects to invest $2.5B in growth projects during 2018, up $300M from the budget, to be funded with internally generated cash flow without the need to access capital markets.

KMI also expects to beat its budgeted leverage metric of year-end net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio of 5.1x and expects to end the year with a ratio of 4.6x.

Kinder Morgan a écrit :

The third quarter was a momentous one for our company,” Chief Executive Officer Steve Kean noted. “We closed the Trans Mountain transaction on August 31 and then made a final investment decision on the Permian Highway Pipeline Project less than a week later. Our three-year campaign to strengthen KMI’s balance sheet reached an important milestone as we ended the quarter with an Adjusted Net Debt-to-Adjusted EBITDA ratio of approximately 4.6 times. Consistent with that achievement, all three ratings agencies have provided formal notification that our credit ratings are on positive outlook for an upgrade, and S&P announced they expect to raise our rating in January.

It might be helpful for readers to see more specific details. For those of you that need a reminder:

KMI is in the midst of building the Elba Island LNG port, expected to be complete in Q1 2019, the Gulf Coast Express pipeline and the Permian Highway Pipeline. Each of these projects is about $2 billion in size and KMI owns about 33% of each (sloppy rounding) so the 3 projects combined means that KMI will put about $2 billion to work earning a 14% return or higher. KMI has also alluded to more project announcements coming soon, so putting $2 to $3 billion to work at 14%+ returns is happening right now.

Meanwhile, KMI is likely to sell all the remaining Canadian assets at a very full price and that action will allow KMI to reduce its debt further, taking Debt/EBITDA below 4.5, probably to 4.4. RIght now the remaining Canadian assets generate about $200 million in ebitda, so if they can sell that for 12 to 15 x ebitda, that suggests as much as $2 billion in gross sales. KMI could get 70% of the net proceeds, so KMI might very well be able to reduce debt by another $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion… just assume some number over $1 billion. This act will virtually guarantee a credit upgrade from all the agencies and more institutional enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, KMI is buying back shares, they spent $250 million in Q3 buying back about 14 million shares, on pace for about 50 million shares a year, which can lift per share results by about 2.5% a year if continued. The buy back provides the company flexibility as well the opportunity to grow per share results faster than operations. I like that, you should too.

With current year DCF running above $2.05 a share and ebitda and dcf both rising by some amount greater than 5% a year, then in the next 3 years it is more than likely that DCF will be over $2.35+ per share. Management has made it clear they want to use their cash flow to grow projects, pay higher dividends and to buy back stock. If we assume the current DCF easily allows for the dividends to rise as previously announced, then it is a given that the dividend rises to $1.00 in 2019, then $1.25 in 2020 and then in 2021 it is likely headed to the neighborhood of $1.37 to $1.50. With the current projects already assuring 5% ebitda growth in 2019 and only a few new projects needed to reach another 5% growth in 2020, then KMI will reach 2021 generating $2.35+ DCF and it can easily pay out $1.50 if it elects to do so.

Understand that each new $1 billion project can likely generate about $140 million in ebitda (14% ROI at a minimum). Then assume that they borrow 50% with low cost debt, with say 5.5% interest rates. It seems likely that going forward, KMI will use $1 billion to $1.5 billion of annual cash flow to invest in $2 billion to $3 billion in new projects. For purposes of understanding, lets assume they build $2.5 billion of new projects, borrow half of it at 5.5%. The $2.5 billion will generate $350 million of ebitda (using a 14% ROI). The portion paid for with debt will cost (5.5% x $1.25 billion) about $68.75 million, so the net ebda will be about $281 million in new cash flow after interest expenses. Financing half of the new projects with debt will still lower KMI’s D/EBITDA ratio all new projects have specific D/EBITDA ratios less than 4….so growth can accelerate from here while debt ratios continue to decline. It does not get much better or much easier than that !

Put it all together, and you have a company that is on track to be able to grow its ebitda and dcf by 5%+ while it ramps up its dividend to about 66% of DCF or about $1.50 in 2021. If you look at comparable C-Corps, you will see that as a group, they trade with yields below 5%. If we conservatively use a KMI yield of 5.5%, then the stock in 2021 likely is valued at $1.50/.055 = $27,25. Add in the 3 years of dividends and you get a total value of about $30.40. That provides a 69% total return from today’s $18 a share. If you find using the dividend yield to be too naive a method for determining future values for KMI, then simply focus on the $2.35 DCF, the growth rate per share being north of 5% or even 6% and the healthy dividend as a modest proportion of the DCF. KMI will stack up very competitively against all the other C-Corps and most pipelines in general, so subjectively you end in the same place, the stock will be a double digit total return stock at that time with a growth rate range of 5% to 6.5% and a dividend yield likely in the 4.5% to 5.5% range. That gets to the stock up closer to $30 than $25, either of which would be a strong return.

This tortured story is finally ready to work and it is going to work well with little true downside risk. The numbers are already there for the stock to be worth $22 right now, give it 18 months and the dividend will $1.25 on its way higher while the new projects yet to be announced very well could offer unexpected upside surprise…..I would bet there will be LNG related news coming shortly. Time to do your own research on this name, time to listen to the quarterly conference calls. Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse finally got on board, Wells Fargo likes the story, so does UBS. Its easy to see why.

Source : https://seekingalpha.com/article/421300 … t-79995176

SeekingAlpha a écrit :

Kinder Morgan (NYSE:KMI) announces preliminary 2019 financial projections, including expectations of ~10% growth in distributable cash flow to $5B, supported by a ~$6.5B backlog.

KMI says it expects to generate $2.20/share in DCF and $7.8B of adjusted EBITDA, up a respective 7% and 4% vs. its 2018 budget, despite the sale of the Trans Mountain asset during 2018.

KMI also plans to invest $3.1B in expansion projects and contributions to joint ventures in 2019, and expects to use internally generated cash flow to fully fund its 2019 dividend payment as well as the vast majority of its 2019 discretionary spending, with no need to access equity markets.

The company also envisions ending 2019 with a 4.5x net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio.

Source : Kinder Morgan sees 10% growth in distributable cash flow next year to $5B - Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE:KMI) | Seeking Alpha

Moody’s a écrit :

Toronto, December 13, 2018 -- Moody’s Investors Service ("Moody’s") upgraded Kinder Morgan, Inc.’s (KMI) senior unsecured rating to Baa2 from Baa3 and other rating per the below rating list. The commercial paper rating was upgraded to Prime-2 from Prime-3. The outlook has been changed to stable from positive.

"The upgrade to Baa2 reflects improving leverage, with debt/EBITDA declining below 5x in 2019 when Kinder Morgan applies its approximate $2 billion in cash proceeds from the Kinder Morgan Canada distribution to debt reduction" said Terry Marshall, Moody’s Senior Vice President. "Kinder Morgan has been an early-mover amongst midstream companies in improving its credit profile, dating back to 2014 when it reduced its complexity through consolidation, followed by a significant dividend reduction, reduction of growth capex and reduced project risk from 100% via JV partners and, most recently, lowering its leverage target and reducing debt."

Cela m’a rassuré.

SeekingAlpha a écrit :

As for KMI’s Q4 results, Credit Suisse reiterates its Outperform rating and $23 price target, saying the EBITDA beat was largely due to lower corporate expenses, making it mostly neutral, and the reiterated guidance was expected.

Stifel reiterates its Buy rating, saying KMI "belongs in investor’s portfolios given a dominant natural gas footprint, top shelf dividend growth and improved financial profile."

Wells Fargo maintains its Outperform rating and $21 price target, citing KMI’s improved balance sheet improved, growing key financial metrics and share buybacks potentially on the horizon.
